Below are Updates and Expansions on the Grandmill method Created by Dr. James S. Gould
To understand the Grandmill method, we strongly urge you to obtain at least "Investing In Wheat, Soybeans, Corn" by Wm. Grandmill with his original unique forecasting graphs using 15-year data from 1973 - 1988, and "The Trading Legacy of William Grandmill" by Dr. Gould, both available from Windsor Books. Then you can appreciate the works of Dr. Gould offered below.
Chronologically, First, came "12-Months Grains Trading": Section A updates 15 year average price/carryover charts from 81/82 - 96/97 and 5 year price/carryover charts from 91/92 - 96/97, showing when the highest and the lowest prices occurred
at the carryover levels that they occurred.
Section B are Price Range Charts (95% confidence range) at the carryover levels. Finally, there are the forecasting graphs for the target contract months from all 12 calendar months of the year (For the FIRST TIME EVER ANYWHERE).
Next came Dr. Gould's "New World Forecasting Graphs" using data from 1988 - 2001. Plus a brand new section titled "Summary Tables" that assign values to changes in the carryover level from the previous month and this booklet introduces (1) Estimating prices next month, and (2) Estimating prices until contract expiration.
"All New 12-Months Grains Trading", Section 1. updates data from the 1970's to estimate amount of backup capital needed, and Section 2. contains sets Short Term trades graphs and sets of Long Term trades graphs.
"Grains Price Forecasting Is A Done Deal" is two previously unpublished Grandmill works: 1. A method of using the USDA's monthly "Average Farm Price" to forecast prices and 2. A "new" way to forecast Corn prices.
